I am an active Radio Amateur in the United Kingdom. I am a member of the South Bristol Amateur Radio Club, at which I am also a tutor for people wanting to pass the relavant qualifications to obtain a license that allows them to transmit on the Amateur bands. Computers play a big part in my life, both through work and recreation. I work for a company near Bristol as a Computer Programmer. Over the years I have used many programming languages such as C, C++, Java, Python.

Linux is just about the best operating system you can get these days. There are hundreds of different distribution, offering configurations to fit almost any type of application. In fact most of the Internet is run using Linux because it is very robust, easy to administor, and very secure. Linux is a Unix-type operation system which is developed under the GNU General Public License. The source code for Linux is freely available for anyone to use or modify (under the terms of the GNU GPL).
